Signs Your Dryer Needs a Professional
Not sure if it's worth a call? These are the signs our technicians hear about most before a repair.
- Clothes come out damp or take two or more cycles to dry
- Drum won't turn even though the motor is running
- Dryer is hot to the touch on the outside, or overheating
- Loud thumping, squealing, or grinding during the cycle
- Burning smell, or noticeably less airflow from the vent
- Won't start, keeps tripping the breaker, or shuts off mid-cycle
Common Dryer Problems
Whatever's going on, our technicians have likely already fixed one just like it.
Drum turns and tumbles but the air coming out stays cool.
Motor runs or hums, but the drum stays still or spins freely.
Weak exhaust airflow leaves clothes damp and cycles running long.
Thumping, squealing, or grinding from the drum, belt, or bearings.
No power, stops mid-cycle, or the door switch won't engage.
Dryer or clothes running hotter than normal, a fire safety concern.
If cycles are taking longer and longer to dry a load, check the exhaust vent before assuming it's the heating element. A clogged or crushed vent run restricts airflow, trips the thermal safety fuse, and can mimic a heating problem — I clear one of these on close to half the "won't dry" calls I run.
